Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some things you may want to know about the Cypress Creek Community Chorale.

Q.   When do you rehearse?

A.    We rehearse on Wednesday nights in Room 203-204 of Cypress Creek Christian Church and Community Center.  We start with the church choir music from 7:30 to 8:00, and then work on the major work from 8:00-9:00 PM.

Q.   Do you have other rehearsals, outside of Wednesday nights?

A.    Yes!  We rehearse once in the fall, and once in the Spring all day.  The Fall retreat is in mid-October on a Saturday, and the Spring retreat is in mid-February.  These generally start at 9, break for lunch, and conclude by 2PM.  We also have a rehearsal just before the concet on Tuesday night for the choir alone, Wednesday night for Choir and Orchestra and then perform on Sunday nights.

Q.   What other events do you have, besides the concerts in December and May?

A.    Aside from our concerts the first Sunday of May and the first Sunday of December, we also have a Broadway dinner theater the last Sunday night of August.  We have other events through the year too, but the dates vary from year to year.

Q.   Do you travel?

A.    Yes!  At the time of writing this, we just returned from a quick trip to Kerrville (near San Antonio) to do a concert, and the bells have just returned from a trip to Beeville, Texas (near Corpus Christi) to perform a concert.  We've gone overseas numerous times and hope to again.

Q.   Do I need to be able to read music?

A.    It certainly helps.  Our music can be challenging.  That being said, we have a number of current and former music teachers who are happy to help you learn your part.

Q.   Do I need to audition?

A.    We are non-auditioned.  We believe in giving everyone the chance to sing, because we believe singing in a choir is important to one's well-being.  The director does like to hear each person individually to determine placement and seating in the choir.
